At the Uganda Forest Conservation Group, we believe that lasting forest conservation begins with empowered communities. We actively engage with local populations to promote sustainable livelihoods that align with environmental stewardship. Our programs support alternative income-generating activities that reduce pressure on forest resources while enhancing community well-being. A key focus is the development and promotion of ecotourism and community-based tourism initiatives. These include guided forest walks, cultural experiences, and the establishment of eco-lodges—all designed to showcase the natural and cultural heritage of the region while creating economic opportunities for local people.

Through training, capacity building, and collaboration, we help communities take ownership of conservation efforts and benefit directly from the protection of their natural environment. By integrating conservation with local development, our approach fosters mutual respect, resilience, and a shared responsibility for preserving Uganda’s forests for future generations.
