Institutional and Community Empowerment Program

The Uganda Forest Conservation Group’s Institutional and Community Empowerment Program focuses on building strong local systems and enhancing community participation in environmental conservation. The program supports the capacity development of local institutions, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary for effective forest and biodiversity management. It actively engages communities in sustainable forestry practices, eco-friendly income-generating activities, and citizen science initiatives that encourage local involvement in data collection and monitoring.

Education and awareness are at the heart of this program, fostering a deeper understanding of biodiversity conservation and promoting environmental stewardship at the grassroots level. By strengthening local leadership and encouraging inclusive participation, the program empowers communities to become long-term custodians of their natural resources. This holistic approach not only improves environmental outcomes but also enhances community resilience, livelihoods, and ownership of conservation efforts across Uganda’s rich and diverse ecosystems.
