Climate Resilience Program
The Uganda Forest Conservation Group’s Climate Resilience Program is designed to address the impacts of climate change through practical, nature-based solutions that support both ecosystems and communities. The program promotes climate-smart strategies such as sustainable land management, agroforestry, and reforestation to combat deforestation and restore degraded landscapes.
By integrating biodiversity conservation with ecosystem restoration, the program enhances carbon sequestration, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthens the capacity of natural systems to adapt to climate stresses. It also supports local communities in building resilience through environmentally friendly practices that improve livelihoods and reduce vulnerability to climate-related shocks. These include the adoption of drought-resistant crops, efficient water use, and diversified income sources. By combining traditional knowledge with innovative climate solutions, the Climate Resilience Program not only contributes to global climate mitigation efforts but also ensures that Uganda’s people and natural resources are better equipped to withstand a changing climate.
